For all the Reiki practitioners out there, there’s a method for self-healing. The hand positions used for self-healing are different from those used to heal others.
If you’re learning Reiki from a practitioner, make sure you ask about how the hand positions differ when treating yourself.
For an effective Reiki treatment, it’s a good idea to do a full treatment, using all of the hand positions. For effective results, do the treatment consistently, for a certain period of time.
One hour a day should be enough, but don’t spend the whole session focusing on symptom areas. Reiki does not travel to where it is needed; it works as a system.
What Can You Improve with Self-Healing?
Reiki self-healing treatments can help a number of conditions, including: high blood pressure, allergies, premenstrual syndrome, thyroid issues, and more. Conditions will not improve overnight, especially if you’ve been dealing with them for years. However, with consistent practice and the right reiki self healing techniques, you should see noticeable improvement in your health.
After you’ve improved your health, you can continue to use reiki as preventative maintenance. This will keep the cells energized and make it harder for ailments to set in.
Use All Hand Positions
Make sure to use all of the reiki self healing hand positions. You can do this by placing your hands on the following areas of your body, going in order:
- Crown of the head
- Back of the head
- Upper chest
- Lower ribs
- Belly button
- Lower abdomen
Choose a Time that Works Best for You
Many people find it more effective to do their Reiki practice first thing in the morning. You don’t have to do before you open your eyes, but you should organize your practice in such a way that it works for you. When you first start practicing, it may take some trial and error to determine which way will work for you. Others prefer to do their self-healing practices at night before bed.
It is okay to use a timer, as long as the timer emits a pleasant noise that will remind you to move your hands, and let you know when it’s time to end the session. Kitchen timers emit harsh sounds that can ruin the relaxation and process of Reiki. Apps are available for your phone to assist with this, as well.
Some days, you may not finish all of your placements. That’s okay. Hawayo Takata, the woman responsible for bringing Reiki to the United States says, a little Reiki every day is better than none at all. Do whatever’s possible to maintain your rhythm of self-care, and get back to the full treatment the next day.
Customize Your Reiki Protocol
You can customize the protocol to your liking, but you’ll want to keep it simple. Making the protocol too complex will be harder to follow through with on a regular basis.
Remember, Reiki, whether received from a practitioner, or through a self-healing session is not a substitute for professional medical care. It works as a complementary therapy for many things, but if you have a medical condition, it’s always best to speak to your doctor first.
